We quickly grabbed the opportunity and MOUSETRAP now has shiny, new, superfast fibre broadband. Full-fibre broadband (FTTP: Fibre to the Premises) is a brand-spanking new technology, replacing current broadband services often running over copper lines between the cabinet and the home.

So, what are the benefits of FTTP (and to guests of the Mousetrap)?

Faster Speeds
Although our new service is based on a 80Mb/s download, full fibre can reach speeds of up to 1,000Mb/s (1Gb/s), downloading a 6 season box set in 1 min 25 seconds!

It’s More Reliable
The fibre optic cable that is used to connect you to full-fibre broadband is built to last and much less susceptible to damage which can lead to faults. The new technology can last 40 years, while the current copper cable lasts just 5 years. So you can expect to have little-to-no drop outs and fast speeds all the time!

More, More, More
FTTP is perfect for busy homes, with lots of devices to connect. Phones, iPads, TVs, PC’s but also new smart devices, like fridges, lights, security systems, thermostats and more.

Improved Security
FTTP is the most secure way you can get a broadband connection into the home. That’s because the data moves close to the speed of light, making it hard for criminals to interrupt or intercept the flow of data compared to other technologies.

Switching Speeds & Future Changes Are Easier
Once on a new FTTP connection is installed, changing speed is quick and easy. However, for the moment our new 80Mb/s, connection should be fast enough for even the most tech enabled guest and their family.

No More Sharing (Contention)
On a current legacy connection, homes will often be sharing the connection lines up to the cabinet (with as many as 74 other homes!) FTTP gives a home a dedicated fibre optic line.

Downside!
Unfortunately, with FFTP you can’t get a ‘landline’ because of the type of connection that a landline uses. However nearly all Mousetrap guests have mobiles and landline connections as a whole are unlikely to exist in a few years’ time!
